Step 8 Getting Paid

Until your customer pays, you are down on cash and your profit is at risk.
Think “how can I get paid” from the first contact – a major qualifying question
Agree payment terms – including in advance
Report back concerns – if in doubt, credit check
Good cop / bad cop routine – unless you’re the CEO, you are protecting your customer from the aggressive accounts/credit control staff.
Sales incentives should factor in any bad debts – sales people must not be rewarded for taking risks
